What is Supplemental Security Income?

How to Apply

To apply for the Social Security account, visit this website: https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.action. This link will take you to a page that is for signing in or creating a new Social Security account. To proceed with the application, click “Create New Account”. You must have:
- An email address
- Social Security Number
- Be the age of 18 years or older
- Have a mailing address in the U.S.
The account you are creating must be for personal use only. It is strictly forbidden to sign up for another person even if they give you permission to do so. Sharing your account with another person is prohibited, so you are not allowed to go on a friend’s or partner’s account.
The information is restricted to each individual only as it is sensitive. There will be penalties involved if you were to put any false information. Make sure to keep your information safe to avoid any misuse of your identity. Social Security does not take responsibility for what happens if your data is misused whether it’s due to your carelessness or other circumstances.
What they will do with your information is to confirm that your identity isn’t forged. They use a system known as the Identify Service Provide in which they do not share your social security number and your personal information will only be stored there temporarily.
